Export added or changed contacts only
Exporter for Contacts can limit an export to only those contacts that have been added or changed since the last export of that particular setup, even for external vCards.
How to create an export setup for email marketing
Create a setup for a CSV file with five columns: first name, last name, email address, phone number and birthday. Give the columns their own titles in the Custom Export Layout Editor.
The upgrade from version 1 does not work
The upgrade requires an iCloud account. Both apps must be able to access iCloud Drive. Make sure iCloud Drive is enabled in System Settings > Apple Account, and check that access is allowed under Options for both apps.
How can I exclude contacts without email addresses from export?
Create a Smart List in Apple's Contacts app that contains only contacts with the desired criteria. Then drag the members of the Smart List to the contact list of Exporter for Contacts.
When I open the CSV file in Excel, the columns run together
Excel does not recognise a CSV structure on its own, where Apple Numbers does. The trick is not to open the file directly but to import it via File > Import. Alternatively, use the native Excel format and avoid the problem entirely.
My Excel file has hundreds of columns and is cluttered
This happens when you have many contacts, many different labels, and multi-value fields set to export per label in separate columns. Exclude unimportant fields and export multi-value fields in list form. Or create a custom format in the Custom Export Layout Editor.
Can Exporter for Contacts handle standalone vCard files and .abbu files?
As of version 2.4, you can drag external vCards into the contacts list of an export setup and convert them directly. A Contacts Archive (.abbu) is Apple's proprietary backup format. To open one, use ABBU Restore and export the contacts inside as vCard or CSV.
