Which sources can I export contacts from?
Exporter for Contacts 2 converts contacts from every account set up in the Apple Contacts app, including iCloud, Google, and Exchange. Select whole accounts, one or more lists, or just individual contacts, or a mix of all of them. You can also drag external vCard files from the Finder into the app and then convert them.
What about contacts with several email addresses or phone numbers?
You decide how they land in the exported table. Export a separate column per label, for example only the email addresses labeled “work”, or use the index labels “1st” to “10th” to take the first entries regardless of label. Alternatively, the app combines all values of a field into one cell as a list. The rule you pick applies to every contact in the same way.
Can I export only the contacts that changed since the last export?
Yes. Each export setup remembers on your Mac which state it exported last. The next run delivers only the contacts added or changed since then, for example for a regular handover to another system. The page Export Added or Changed Contacts Only has the details.
Is any data uploaded anywhere?
No. Exporter for Contacts 2 runs entirely on your Mac, isolated in Apple’s App Sandbox, and collects no data. Unlike web-based converters or cloud-based AI services, which require you to upload your contacts, the entire conversion takes place locally on your Mac. Your contacts never leave your computer.
Why not just use AI to convert contacts?
Because your contacts are other people’s data. A contact list consists of names, private phone numbers, home addresses, birthdays, and notes that these people entrusted to you. If you use a cloud-based AI service, you send all of that to the provider without the people concerned knowing or consenting. Exporter for Contacts 2 uploads nothing and exports exactly the fields you select, by fixed rules and the same way on every export. An AI, by contrast, generates every answer anew and can alter or drop individual values along the way.
Can I import contacts as well?
Not with this app. Exporter for Contacts 2 reads the Apple Contacts app and writes tabular data and other formats. Importer for Contacts goes the opposite way, from Excel or CSV into the Apple Contacts app.
